To make a picture book, an artist creates many stories and draws many pictures. A picture book is the result of this long process, and it reaches the hands and eyes of many people. Unfortunately, however, not all good ideas come to fruition. The Un-printed Ideas exhibition at MOKA, Hyundai Museum of Kids’ Books & Art, brings works that have yet to reach audiences into the exhibition space. It showcases original artworks, creative processes, and dummy books, providing spatial experiences and hands-on activities to better appreciate the works of different artists. The exhibition also provides a space for viewers and artists to interact, share their thoughts on picture books, and support the artists’ passion for picture books. Celebrating the 4th iteration of the exhibition, this year’s Un-printed Ideas presents picture books by seven artists on the themes of “Friends,” “Nature and Human,” and “Picture Book without Words.” The exhibition also showcases the journey of the first three Un-Printed Ideas since its first exhibition in 2017, as well as projects that have been developed with participating artists. With Un-printed Ideas, the joyful first encounter between picture books and the world begins once again.
