Moongchi and Cancellina
The main work
Moongchi and Cancellina exhibition features two representative artists with uncommon perspectives – Goh Gyongsook and Noh Inkyung – who express imagination and deal with emotions and problems. Original art pieces of the artists will be introduced and detailed explanations on ideas that inspire the artists to write and depict stories, imaginations that drive their drawing, methods of expression they adopt, etc. will be provided.
What motivates them to write and illustrate? What’s in their mind? What do they observe and explore? What are their worries, and how do they overcome? These are a few of more questions we pose - questions with answers and without ones as well. Visitors will be encouraged to trace a drawing of the original illustrations, reconstruct the stories, and recreate the works in their own way. The exhibition will introduce the way that the artists observe, imagine, and ask questions. We also thought: What if visitors participate and revisit the Moongchi part of them, asking creative questions, use imagination, and create their own illustrations? What if they join in asking questions about their worries and find the most humorous solution just as Cancellina does? That is what we are expecting to see.
