MOKA is pleased to present a special exhibition to celebrate the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2022. The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are two biennial awards given by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) since 1956, recognizing one living author and one living illustrator for their lasting contribution to children’s literature. The award respects the children’s world. It merits the lifelong achievements of awarded artists, rather than a particular representa-tive work.

Exhibition Hall 1 presents artworks of the five illustrators who were selected as finalists for the award. Exhibition 2 introduces the works of award winners Suzy Lee (illustrator) and Marie-Aude Murail (author), along with the works of the five shortlist authors. The exhibition invites us to appreciate how the illustrators and authors became globally recognized artists (‘Time for Artists’) and what messages of growth they deliver for children in their works (‘Time for Children’). We hope that the exhibition will provide an opportunity to appreciate the profound and distin-guished impact of the winners and shortlist artists for the Hans Christian Anderson Award.
